Wheels and tires keep getting bigger, and there are certain tradeoffs that come with plus-sized wheels. The 18” size is a great compromise, however, and plenty of new and late-model vehicles come from the factory rolling on 18s. It’s a pretty popular size for light trucks, SUVs, CUVs and sedans, as we’ll discuss here:

Let’s start with the 235/60R18, a tire size you’ll find on vehicles like the Chrysler Pacifica, older Jeep Cherokee, Ford Flex RX and Lexus RX RX. Going a little bigger, the 275/70R18 is pretty popular on trucks like the Nissan Titan, Chevrolet Silverado 3500 and RAM 2500. Some great light truck tires in this size include the Toyo Open Country A/T III, Continental TerrainContact H/T, Firestone Destination LE3 and General Grabber HTS60.

The 235/50R18 is a lower-profile tire that’s found on sportier models like the Ford Mustang, Jaguar XF as well as Volkswagen Tiguan, Dodge Grand Caravan and Honda CR-V. For the sporty end of the spectrum in this tire size, check out the Toyo Proxes 4 Plus, and Pirelli P Zero.
